Terms of Service

Service Overview

The Bathhouse provides professional cleaning, restoration, and presentation enhancement services for collectible trading cards: The Bathhouse Cleanse (cleaning and holo scratch restoration), Crease Restoration, Dent/Lift Restoration, and Slab Crack (removal of cards from graded slabs). Our process focuses on careful surface cleaning, dust removal, and visual improvement without altering or modifying the original print, structure, or edges of the card. We never add ink, trim edges, apply coatings, or introduce foreign material.

Client Acknowledgement

By sending your cards to The Bathhouse, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are the lawful owner of the cards submitted.
  • You understand that card cleaning and restoration involve manual handling and minor risk inherent to the process.
  • You have accurately described the card's condition, and its declared value, before submission.

Condition Verification

Prior to any work, The Bathhousedocuments each card's condition through high-quality photos or videos. You are encouraged to take your own photos before mailing your cards for additional reference.

Liability for Damage

We treat every card as if it were our own. However, if a card sustains damage while in our possession that is proven to be worse than the condition in which it was received, The Bathhouse will be held liable for the fair market replacement value of that card at the time of damage, determined using trusted marketplaces such as TCGplayer or verified eBay sold listings.

Please note:

  • We are not responsible for pre-existing wear, manufacturing defects, or surface flaws already present when received.
  • We are not liable for damage or loss caused by shipping carriers to or from The Bathhouse unless the client has purchased shipping insurance.
  • Liability does not extend to perceived grading potential, speculative value, or sentimental worth.

Limitation of Liability

The Bathhouse's total liability shall not exceed the current fair market value of the affected card(s). We do not provide compensation for loss of potential grading score, market fluctuations, or emotional value.

Grading Disclaimer

Cleaning and restoration are cosmetic services. They do not guarantee any numerical grade, and grading companies (PSA, BGS, CGC, and others) apply their own evolving criteria for what they consider altered. A restored card may be flagged, returned ungraded, or receive a different result than expected. Grading outcomes are entirely at the grading company's discretion, and The Bathhouse is not responsible for any grade, alteration designation, or change in market value resulting from a third-party evaluation.

Pricing & Declared Value

Prices follow the published rates on our pricing page. Restoration services scale with the declared value you provide at checkout, which is also used for insurance and liability purposes, so please declare honestly. Your exact total is shown before you submit an order.

Payment and Returns

Every submission is subject to approval. Once your cards reach us we confirm the final price, and that invoice must be paid in full before any work begins; work is scheduled only after payment is received. Additional charges may apply if, upon inspection, we find damage or condition issues that were not disclosed in your submission form. We will contact you before proceeding with any such change.

After work is completed, all cards are returned via the shipping method chosen at the time of order. The client is responsible for shipping costs to The Bathhouse and for the return shipment, including optional return insurance, which is quoted and billed when your cards ship back. Tracking is provided once shipped.

Shipping & Packaging

Please ship each card in a penny sleeve and toploader (or the original slab for Slab Crack orders), secured against movement, using a tracked service. We strongly recommend insuring your inbound shipment; The Bathhouse is not responsible for cards lost or damaged in transit to us.

Carrier tracking that marks a package “delivered” is not proof that it reached us. It is the client's responsibility to confirm the package is actually in our possession. If it is not, the service has not started, and The Bathhouse TCG LLC is not held liable for packages that are lost, stolen, or misdelivered in transit to us, including packages marked delivered that never actually arrive.

Signature confirmation is not required, but we strongly recommend it when shipping high-value cards to ensure the package is received safely and its possession is properly verified.

Turnaround Time

Standard turnaround times are based on the service needed and purchased, and begin from the date your cards are received. Most services complete in about 1 week, though timing may vary depending on the service, workload, order size, or special requests. You will be notified promptly of any delays.

Cancellations & Unclaimed Cards

Orders may be cancelled for a full refund of service fees any time before work begins; return shipping still applies. Once work has started, fees for that card are non-refundable. If we cannot reach you and cards remain unclaimed for 90 days after completed work, we will make reasonable attempts to contact you before treating the cards as abandoned property under applicable law.

Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises regarding card condition, damage, or valuation, both parties agree to communicate and attempt resolution in good faith before considering legal action. All disputes shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, with venue in Los Angeles County, California.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you submit an order is the version that applies to that order.

By submitting your card(s) to The Bathhouse, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service in full.
